Do i uninstall DbaBar first before installing DbaPad?
Dbabar and DbaPad can run next to each other, as long as they are installed in a seperate folder (which is the default).
DbaPad is installed in a different folder then DbaBar.
Typically it is installed in c:\program files\dbmotive\dbapad
So there is no reason to uninstall DbaBar
Need to install Oracle 10g on Vista but during istall the feedback is that they are not compatible. What is way forward to get my 10g installed on Vista?
It is better to use a certified combination of the O.S. and the Oracle client.
You can download the Oracle 11 instant client to work with Vista.
My Laptop requires HDD Password to boot. Any help? Win XP on Gateway M320. Pls help.
Is this a brand new laptop?Check the manual that was shipped with your laptop for a default password.
If it is a company laptop, check your helpdesk to get the password
Hi!
If your DBAPad tool had the ability to extract DDL for objects (including users, tablespaces, redo, as well as regular objects like tables, etc.) it would just about be the perfect tool! Also the ability to save SQL that has been captured, etc. would be awesome.
Pushing my luck the other option I would like to see added is the ability to run SQL from within the tool. This way it becomes an all in one tool and I would not have to have 2 or more open to do all my work.
Thanks!

I'm a resource with KPMG enterprise Artitect team and we are updating the product roadmaps. As we are currently implementing your product DbaPad 2.0 would like to know what is the KPMG support end date from DbMotive. Any newer version release info will also help. what is the lifecycle for this product, when does a product retire.
Thanks
Aparna
Normally we release 3 to 4 new versions of DbaPad each year. This year it will probably be 3 releases.
A new version is due 2nd half of September.
DbaPad evolved from DbaBar, which started in 2004. That's already 6 years of development and support and we don't plan to stop product development nor support the next 6 years.
Which is the latest version of DbaPad available for implementation? Can we assume that all these 3-4 version releases are minor releases? Please provide a product availability matrix if possible including release dates(general availability dates).
Thanks,
Aparna
The current release is 2.0.0.
This year there will be some minor fixes yes. This is the release schedule
Sep/Oct 2010: 2.0.1 - includes tnsping and ping tool, and some minor bug fixes
Dec 2010: 2.0.2 - additional screens for RMAN backup
Mar/Apr 2011: 2.1.0 - able to create your own modules
Jul/Aug 2011: 2.1.1 - bug fixes
What is the upgrade policy for implementing the newer versions of the product? Can we simply download the upgrades for our existing product for free as long as we have a valid license? Or We need to purchase separate license to implement a higher version in future although we might be using an older version?
When you have a valid license, all future upgrades are included.
You can check the license expiry date in the 'enter license' dialog box
Will you product run on Windows 7 64bit using Oracle 11gR2 64 bit client?
Yes, this was tested and is a certified combination.
DbaPad was build on a 64-bit Windows 7 , but is a 32-bit executable
